The ability to clear fields of weeds using powerful herbicides which can be sprayed onto GE herbicide-resistant crops will result in farmlands devoid of wildlife and spell disaster to millions of already declining birds & animals. It is the world's leading producer of the herbicide glyphosate, marketed as "Roundup". Monsanto is also the leading producer of genetically engineered (GE) seed; it sells 90% of the world's GE seeds. Monsanto has specialized in creating poisons and the most toxic substances known to man. They do so in order to reap the highest profits, with little concern and foresight for how this might effect humans or the ecosystem. It seems clear to us that a company like this must be tightly regulated and anything they produce should be clearly labeled. This postcard offers some black humor to raise this topic and inspire more discussion and action. Monsanto's development and marketing of genetically engineered seed and bovine growth hormone, as well as its aggressive litigation and political lobbying practices, have made the company controversial around the world and a primary target of the alter-globalization movement and environmental activists.
