Many Native American People traditionally plant corn, beans & squash together. The Corn grows tall to provide the Beans a stalk to reach toward the Sun. Beans bring nitrogen to the soil which becomes fertilizer to feed the land. The Squash covers the ground to prevent erosion and is shaded some by the Corn & Beans. This is knows as "Companion Planting". Each of the 3 vegetables complements and nurtures each other. "The Three Sisters" are a very delicious and healthy food. Each fall the People collect the seeds to plant for the next years harvest to continue the circle of life.
