Hugo Kaagman (born, 1955) is an Amsterdam artist. From 1973 to 1976 studied Social Geography at the University of Amsterdam. At the end of the seventies he was part of a creative group within the Amsterdam punk movement.
He was with friend and graffiti artist Dr. Diana Ozon. One of the founders of the punk fanzine and the Koekrant club DDT666. The squatters in the Sarphatistraat where Hugo lived by him were painted in a zebra pattern and were now called the Zebra Estates. Kaagman was late seventies, and in the early years as an active graffiti artist. On the walls of the Rijksmuseum, he then sprayed with paint his own version of the Milkmaid by Vermeer.
Kaagman's work is a mix of Western, non-Western, bourgeois, the traditional and the modern, avant-garde, and mocking critical while respecting the artistic aspect of the craft work.
